英文: | And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned? |

英文: | Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall. |

英文: | Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity: |

英文: | And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders. |

中文: | 这样,我们修造城墙,城墙就都连络,高至一半,因为百姓专心做工。 |
英文: | So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work. |

中文: | 叁巴拉,多比雅,阿拉伯人,亚扪人,亚实突人听见修造耶路撒冷城墙,着手进行堵塞破裂的地方,就甚发怒。 |
英文: | But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth, |

英文: | And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it. |

英文: | Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them. |

中文: | 犹大人说,灰土尚多,扛抬的人力气已经衰败,所以我们不能建造城墙。 |
英文: | And Judah said, The strength of the bearers of burdens is decayed, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall. |

中文: | 我们的敌人且说,趁他们不知,不见,我们进入他们中间,杀他们,使工作止住。 |
英文: | And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease. |

中文: | 那靠近敌人居住的犹大人,十次从各处来见我们,说,你们必要回到我们那里。 |
英文: | And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us they will be upon you. |

中文: | 嚣以我使百姓各按宗族拿刀,拿枪,拿弓站在城墙后边低洼的空处。 |
英文: | Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows. |

中文: | 我察看了,就起来对贵胄,官长,和其馀的人说,不要怕他们。当记念主是大而可畏的。你们要为弟兄,儿女,妻子,家产争战。 |
英文: | And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the LORD, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses. |

中文: | 仇敌听见我们知道他们的心意,见神也破坏他们的计谋,就不来了。我们都回到城墙那里,各做各的工。 |
英文: | And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work. |

中文: | 从那日起,我的仆人一半做工,一半拿枪,拿盾牌,拿弓,穿(穿或作拿)铠甲,官长都站在犹大众人的后边。 |
英文: | And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah. |

中文: | 修造城墙的,扛抬材料的,都一手做工一手拿兵器。 |
英文: | They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon. |

中文: | 修造的人都腰间佩刀修造,吹角的人在我旁边。 |
英文: | For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me. |

中文: | 我对贵胄,官长,和其馀的人说,这工程浩大,我们在城墙上相离甚远。 |
英文: | And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another. |

中文: | 你们听见角声在哪里,就聚集到我们那里去。我们的神必为我们争战。 |
英文: | In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us. |
第21段 | |
中文: | 于是,我们做工,一半拿兵器,从天亮直到星宿出现的时候。 |
英文: | So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared. |
第22段 | |
中文: | 那时,我又对百姓说,各人和他的仆人,当在耶路撒冷住宿,好在夜间保守我们,白昼做工。 |
英文: | Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day. |

中文: | 这样,我和弟兄仆人,并跟从我的护兵都不脱衣服,出去打水也带兵器。 |
英文: | So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for washing. |
