| 英文： | And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment. |

| 英文： | Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah, |

| 中文： | 对他说，你年纪老迈了，你儿子不行你的道。现在求你为我们立一个王治理我们，像列国一样。 |
| 英文： | And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. |

| 中文： | 撒母耳不喜悦他们说立一个王治理我们，他就祷告耶和华。 |
| 英文： | But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD. |

| 中文： | 耶和华对撒母耳说，百姓向你说的一切话，你只管依从。因为他们不是厌弃你，乃是厌弃我，不要我作他们的王。 |
| 英文： | And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. |

| 英文： | Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them. |

| 英文： | And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king. |

| 中文： | 管辖你们的王必这样行，他必派你们的儿子为他赶车，跟马，奔走在车前。 |
| 英文： | And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. |

| 中文： | 又派他们作千夫长，五十夫长，为他耕种田地，收割庄稼，打造军器和车上的器械。 |
| 英文： | And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots. |

| 英文： | And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers. |

| 中文： | 也必取你们最好的田地，葡萄园，橄榄园赐给他的臣仆。 |
| 英文： | And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants. |

| 中文： | 你们的粮食和葡萄园所出的，他必取十分之一给他的太监和臣仆。 |
| 英文： | And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants. |

| 中文： | 又必取你们的仆人婢女，健壮的少年人和你们的驴，供他的差役。 |
| 英文： | And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work. |

| 中文： | 你们的羊群，他必取十分之一，你们也必作他的仆人。 |
| 英文： | He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants. |

| 中文： | 那时你们必因所选的王哀求耶和华，耶和华却不应允你们。 |
| 英文： | And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day. |

| 中文： | 百姓竟不肯听撒母耳的话，说，不然。我们定要一个王治理我们， |
| 英文： | Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; |
| 第20段 | |
| 中文： | 使我们像列国一样，有王治理我们，统领我们，为我们争战。 |
| 英文： | That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles. |
| 第21段 | |
| 中文： | 撒母耳听见百姓这一切话，就将这话陈明在耶和华面前。 |
| 英文： | And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the LORD. |

| 中文： | 耶和华对撒母耳说，你只管依从他们的话，为他们立王。撒母耳对以色列人说，你们各归各城去吧。 |
| 英文： | And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city. |
